File and speaker information |
The File and speaker information feature gives access to a summary of the metatextual information encoded in the file header of each BNC text.
Accessing file information |
In the BNC Query Result display, click on the BNC file ID + sentence number identifier given in the second column for each concordance hit. This will display the available information for that particular concordance line, as shown below for the text ABJ. The same page is displayed if you select 'File info for ...' in the drop-down menu of the Browse a file page.
If the text belongs to the spoken component of the BNC, some information about the speakers will also be displayed:
For a number of spoken texts, information about the relationship between the participants is also available:
Accessing speaker information |
More detailed information about the individual speakers (if available) can be accessed by clicking on the speaker ID. The same page is displayed when the name of the speaker (or the speaker ID) in the Browse a file page is clicked. The following table shows the information available for the speaker with the ID PS59C:
